The first friendly match of Borussia Dortmund's short training camp in the Kitzbühel Alps took place just four hours after the team had landed in Salzburg. The Black and Yellows put in a strong performance against St. Pauli F.C., especially in the first half, and defeated the 2nd Bundesliga team 3-2 (2-0).

Even though St. Pauli F.C. had already been in training the whole week, and despite the fact that the Borussia Dortmund team were still feeling the burn from an intensive training session held that morning in Dortmund, they nonetheless managed to play their opposition off the park in the first half. As well as two goals from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who went past defender Ziereis in the fourth minute to place the ball in at the far post for a 1-0 lead, and who 15 minutes safely converted a penalty after a foul by Buballa on Ramos, there were five more good chances on goal.

Castro hit the bar from a free-kick (6'), while Ramos was successfully challenged by Buballa at the last moment (8'). The Columbian was also unable to put the ball past keeper Himmelmann after being set up by Dembelé (24'). A few minutes later and there was another excellent move via Dembelé and Ramos, but Aubameyang put the resulting chance over (32'). Dembelé went past a number of the men from Hamburg just seconds later, meeting his match, though, in Himmelmann.

In the second half – similar to the 2-0 victory in Wuppertal – a strengthened U19 side played, creating via Hober (54') and Mangala (67'/70') three noteworthy chances on goal. Nonetheless, it was St. Pauli who found the net next: Empen put the ball away twice between Dortmund's chances (61'/79') to level the score at 2-2. There was one last twist in the tail remaining, though: After receiving the ball from Hober, Mangala fired home from a tight angle two minutes before time, enabling BVB to claim their third victory in as many friendly matches.
