At last we had another full blown Black Yellow event in the SIGNAL IDUNA PARK: thirteen weeks after the last home game of the previous season, the fans came to the stadium in their droves this Saturday. The reason was the BVB Start to the Season event with an Evonik team introduction and an open training session.

The stands were filled with 30 000 spectators, who turned the stadium into a bright yellow mass of colour. The Borussia Dortmund team were all there and presented themselves to  their fans, apart from Sven Bender and Matthias Ginter, who were at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and they were awarded a big round of applause to Brazil.

Player after player was called out from the tunnel by Nobby Dickel, first of all the goalkeepers, then the defenders and the midfield players, and then the strikers and the coaching staff. Special attention was given to the eight new signings at the end, who were first of all presented on the video screens by Borussia, before Marc Bartra, Ousmane Dembélé, Emre Mor, Mario Götze, Raphael Guerreiro, Sebastian Rode, Andre Schürrle and Mikel Merino walked into the temple of football in their Black Yellow jerseys.

Sebastian Rode said looking ahead to the Supercup against his ex-club Bayern Munich: "we're looking forward to tomorrow. European Champion Guerreiro was awarded some special applause and looked very impressed by the atmosphere in the stadium. There was also a lot of applause for Marco Reus and Mario Götze.

The team then went through a training session without the injured Marco Reus and Erik Durm. Head Coach Thomas Tuchel announced: "we will have a normal training session in front of the spectators." He let his players go through a rigorous training session for about 75 minutes and got them to work up a real sweat. (cr)
