Borussia Dortmund will travel to Trier for Monday's DFB Cup match (20:45 CET) without Mario Götze. After an intensive week of training in which "latecomers" Götze, Schürrle, Piszczek, Weigl and Guerreiro completed a considerably move intensive programme "and really covered some kilometres", according to head coach Thomas Tuchel, the Germany international reported a muscle problem after Sunday morning's training session.

Tuchel spoke of "muscle stiffness" in the player's thigh/adductor region and emphasised: "The fact we are not taking him is a precautionary measure." The midfielder's place in the squad will be taken by Christian Pulisic.

The return of Marco Reus to training, which was scheduled for this week, was unfortunately delayed. "Exercising caution is a priority. We are not counting down the days," said Tuchel, who added: "If his mobility and resilience levels are not yet at 100 percent, it makes sense for him to sit this one out. His return to first-team training has therefore been postponed by a couple of days."

As for Erik Durm, who had inflamed tissue removed from his knee on Wednesday, the coach is hoping for a good course of recovery and for a "similarly positive process" to last year, when the player injured his other knee.
