Borussia Dortmund's U23s remain undefeated in the Regional League West, but should be happy to have taken a point from the top of the table clash against Viktoria Köln, having drawn the match 1-1 in Cologne. BVB II played particularly well in the second half, but hit only the woodwork. The result means the boys from Borussia remain second in the table.

BVB Trainer Daniel Farke kept faith in the starting eleven from the Wuppertaler SV game (0-0) – with Lars Dietz and Sören Dieckmann on the left hand side. The latter would go on to play a central role in the first half of the game.

However, it was the hosts who would set the tempo at the beginning of the match. BVB Goalkeeper Hendrik Bonmann cleared Mike Wunderlich's attempt on goal, after which Sven Kreyer found the back of the net from just a few metres out at the second attempt, taking the game to 1-0 (15').

Subsequently, controversy in the 21' minute: Viktoria's goalkeeper Philipp Kühn felled Dieckmann in the penalty area, but the whistle signalling the due penalty remained mute. Daniel Farke raged on the touchline, but was soon mollified: The ball was sent in from the wing by Lars Dietz, eventually finding Dieckmann, who slotted home from a short distance. New score: 1-1.

BVB continued to apply pressure, and came close to getting a second just before half-time: Dieckmann headed the ball onto the underside of the bar. And so it continued after the break: Massih Wassesy first fired just over Viktoria's bar (55') before seeing his next effort rebound off of it (61').

Dortmund dominated the rest of the second half, but the winning goal simply would not come. The Black and Yellows continue their campaign on Tuesday (19:30 CET) at Bonner SC.
