When Norbert Remmers held his ticket under the scanner on Friday evening, he became the 63,683rd visitor to pass through the turnstiles – and the 40 millionth to have ever attended a Borussia Dortmund home league game at the Rote Erde Stadium or the Westfalenstadion/Signal Iduna Park. He was directly followed by Doreen Leder-Braun.

In a show of gentlemanly conduct, Mr. Remmers kindly let his partner accept the honour – but because we at BVB are pragmatic thinkers, club employee Jens Volke naturally accompanied both of them onto the pitch, where they were presented with an apt gift by Managing Director Thomas Treß and Marketing Director Carsten Cramer: a shirt with the number 40 million on the back...

Friends of Doreen Leder-Braun, who hails from Berlin but has been living in Dortmund for years, lent her their season tickets for the match against Hertha BSC. She chose to bring her partner Norbert Remmers, who was visiting the Strobelallee for the first time in eight years. (br)
