Nuri Sahin and Sokratis will return to the squad for Wednesday evening's (20:45 CET) DFB Cup tie against Union Berlin, as will Emre Mor, whose suspension does not apply in this competition. However, three attacking players may miss out.

Christian Pulisic, Ousmane Dembélé, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang did not take part in Tuesday's training session. "It's very unfortunate news. There are question marks surrounding the involvement of all three," explained Thomas Tuchel, who added: "Two of them are ill, and Auba took a few knocks to his calf in Ingolstadt." The club's top goalscorer suffered a bruised muscle as a result. "We'll need to wait and see tomorrow," Tuchel said.

However, some of the club's injury concerns could soon be relieved. Marcel Schmelzer and Raphael Guerreiro are training individually, with the Portuguese midfielder receiving the cautious diagnosis that he – as well as André Schürrle – can return to team training on Thursday. Marco Reus took part in team training today, too, even if it was "in a reduced capacity and with few challenges," as Tuchel explained. "It's still at a low level, but it's good news that he can train consistently." (br)
