Speaking after the match, Hoffenheim boss Julian Nagelsmann admitted: "I wouldn't have given the second yellow card for Marco Reus, and if our second goal had been disallowed I wouldn't have complained too much." Sandro Wagner, who pushed Sven Bender in the build-up to TSG's second, added: "I have to admit it was a foul."

Thomas Tuchel: "We knew we were facing a difficult away match here. Everything that could've gone against us did. At this point I am of course referring to the build-up to their second goal and the red card. That naturally made everything here in Hoffenheim much, much more difficult than it already was. The reaction that we subsequently showed to all those things that were going against us was, I think, extraordinary. We had more shots than Hoffenheim. In the half-time interval we resolved that we wouldn't leave here tonight without any points. We wanted to fight with everything we had to stop that from happening. I think you could really sense that. For that I think the team deserves a huge compliment. I feel that given the unlucky way in which the match developed for us, we deserved to take a point home."

Hans-Joachim Watzke: "If you play for 60 minutes with ten men against this strong TSG side, you can be satisfied with a draw in the end. But those two incorrect decisions in the first half... I saw the push in the build-up to their second goal from 60 metres away in the stands. And before the red card, Amiri was pulling his shirt the whole time. The team's reaction was excellent. Hoffenheim are very strong and have been in good form all season. So I have to pay the team a big compliment."

"It was a foul by me, I have to be honest"

Julian Nagelsmann: We didn't perform so well in the first half. We didn't find the courage to play the ball out from the back with Dortmund's aggressive pressing. Nevertheless we took the lead from a situation that we had previously discussed. That's why Mark Uth started. After that I can understand the anger: I wouldn't have given the second yellow card for Marco Reus either. As for Sandro Wagner's goal there was a little bit of contact there of course, but you often see contact like that. But I wouldn't have complained too much if the goal had been disallowed. Nonetheless, it was an action-packed Bundesliga match. Unfortunately we only picked up a point but I think that I can live with that, even though I wanted to win."

Sandro Wagner: "I took another look at the build-up to our second goal at half-time. It was a foul by me, I have to be honest. But I didn't do that consciously on the pitch, that wasn't my intention. In hindsight though, especially when I see the TV replay, I have to admit that it was a foul." (djg)
