The friendly between Rot-Weiß Erfurt and Borussia Dortmund scheduled for 14:30 CET today has been called off with fog preventing the BVB plane from landing at Erfurt airport.

The plane with the Borussia Dortmund team on board had been circling over Thuringia since 13:30 CET. At 14:22 CET, following another attempted approach, the flight captain decided together with Borussia Dortmund to return to North Rhine-Westphalia.

"We are very sorry for all the fans that the weather conditions did not permit us to land," said BVB CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke, who added: "We made several attempts but it was simply too dangerous. We will come back to Erfurt at some stage this season and replay the match." (br)
