It was a highly satisfied Christian Pulisic who spoke to BVBtotal! late on Wednesday night after scoring his first-ever goal in the UEFA Champions League. "To be honest, chipping the ball like that is actually something Auba taught me to do," he said in reference to his deft lob that put the hosts 2-0 up on the night.

Christian, many congratulations on making it to the quarter finals! Was that the most exhilarating match you've experienced in your young career at Borussia Dortmund?
Absolutely. It was the perfect moment to get my first Champions League goal. It's a fantastic feeling to have turned around the first-leg result and to have made it through to the quarter-finals.

With a goal and an assist you played no small part in the victory. Describe your goal for us. It was reminiscent of one of Auba's chip shots…
(Laughs) To be honest, chipping the ball like that is actually something Auba taught me to do. In this case, Lukasz Piszcek played a perfect through-ball. I just had to time my run right and put it in.

Christian Pulisic makes it 2-0 with his first-ever UCL goal.

How important was the early goal for the game?
Very important! We had said in the run-up to the match that we'd definitely score goals but that getting an early goal would be very important. It paved the way for what was to come – even if it took a while after that for us to really get into our rhythm. But when we eventually did, we played really well."

"Ready for the challenge"

As you just said yourself, after taking the lead you took a while to get into your groove. What did the coach say to you in the interval?
He just said we needed to continue to play as we were and remain confident, that we shouldn't settle for the 1-0 victory but should instead go out there, fight and try to get the next goal.

Do you have a preferred opponent for the quarter-finals?
I'm really excited to see who we'll face in the next round and I'm ready for the challenge. But I don't have a preferred opponent. (djg)
