The BVB players were self-critical as they spoke about the victory over Hamburg. "We seem to like making it exciting," commented goalscorer Gonzalo Castro. Here are the match reactions.

Nuri Sahin: "It was end to end. We let Hamburg get into the game by not taking the clear chances we had. You have days like that. Concerning Auba, even the best sometimes miss chances – and Auba definitely ranks alongside the best. I am happy to be back out on the pitch. It was another miserable time [on the sidelines injured]. The journey back was long – longer than I anticipated it would be."

Gonzalo Castro: "Given the chances we had, the game was too open for too long. We should have got the second much earlier and saved ourselves a lot of energy. But instead it became a tough battle. We seem to like making it exciting."

Roman Bürki: "Hamburg made our lives difficult – but at times we made our own lives difficult. We missed a lot of chances. Rene Adler had a good game. It was important to win and boost our self-confidence. We need to continue giving it everything we've got."

Thomas Tuchel: "We're shooting ourselves in the foot a bit with the goalscoring opportunities we miss one after the other and the many games in which we don't put the game beyond our opponent. You had the feeling tonight it might end up 1-1 or equally we could have won 7-3. I'm absolutely delighted with the result." (br)
