The Fan Relations Department is part of the limited company. It is responsible for a wide variety of tasks that are divided among ten full-time fan representatives. They are the first point of contact for any queries fans may have regarding the club. Björn Hegemann is head of the department. He has been working at the club since 2014.

Borussia Dortmund has a large and diverse community of fans, which continues to grow steadily. In order to be able to deal most effectively with the increase in demand, the team of fan representatives has developed and expanded in recent years. The department is subdivided into two main areas of focus.

Matchday operations

The Matchday Operations team consists of Sebastian Walleit (a BVB employee since 2008), Nicole Strothmüller (2020) and Johannes Bagus (2023). Their work is primarily centred around the organisation, advance preparation and post-match evaluation of senior team and U23 matches, work with disabled supporters, the organisation of away season tickets, consultation on stadium bans and hooliganism, as well as networking.

Fan clubs

The Fan Clubs team consists of Alexander Winkler (2015), Sebastian Schneider (2017), Sandra Brinkhaus (2019), Marcus Vedder (2022), Philipp Palm (2023) and Petra Stüker (at BVB since 1981). They are predominantly occupied with processing the queries and requests of over 1000 official BVB fan clubs, which, in total, include over 65.000 fans. They also take care of various administrative tasks within the department.

Alongside these two major areas of focus, further duties and responsibilities include, among others, the running of the supporters’ council and the organisation of fan events and anti-discrimination work. In addition, the fan representatives work in close cooperation with the volunteer-run supporters’ association, which forms part of the club, as well as with the Fan Project Dortmund, both of which champion supporters’ causes outside of the limited company.
