The DFB had produced a nice video showing how Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Dortmund made it to the 74th German Cup final to get the ball rolling at the press conference featuring both managers and both captains.

The opening film brought forth memories in Thomas Tuchel of special moments during the competition, for example, of Ousmane Dembélé, who in the second round fixture against Union Berlin "lay for 15 minutes under a blanket, was treated, and then took the first penalty".

One year ago, making it to the cup final was the avowed intention, and now the men from Dortmund are in Berlin "to win", said their manager. "A title after this season would be a special way to end it, something we really want to achieve."

Standing between the cup and the 1965, 1989 and 2012 winners are 90 or even 120 minutes of hard work. "Frankfurt will demand everything of us. We must be completely prepared, and go beyond our limits", emphasised Marco Reus. His manager characterised the opposition as "very strong in the tackle, and a physical team – which if course is not forbidden! – and a team against whom it is difficult to create goal scoring opportunities for yourself. We want to set the pace, we want to dominate proceedings, and we will need to be effective, in order to reach our goal."
