They have played four pre-season friendlies so far - they have their first competitive fixture in three weeks: the newly formed Borussia Dortmund U23 is getting better game by game. They beat third division VfL Osnabrück 3-0 on Saturday.

Patrick Pflücke (25.) and Herbert Bockhorn both scored for BVB in the first half, after the break Massimo Ornatelli scored (77.) to make the final score 3-0. Team manager Ingo Preuß said on Friday after the 4-1 victory against Hammer SpVgg: "you can tell that the team is gelling much better already."

Before that they went down 0-2 against Preußen Münster. Head Coach Jan Siewert said about that game: "even though the result wasn't in our favour, that was a good match to test my team. In the end, Preußen is an established third division team, who punished us for not taking advantage of our chances. However I am very satisfied with the performance of the team."

It was a different situation with the 1-2 defeat against Oberliga team ASC 09 Dortmund - this was the only match so far in this run of pre-season friendly matches where BVB did not perform well. The run of pre-season friendlies started with a 9-0 win away to A-League FSV Bad Wünnenberg-Leiberg. Michael Eberwein and new signing Anargyros Kampetsis scored three goals each. (br/fg/tj)
