As the only club to have hit ten goals and the only one yet to concede, BVB occupy first place in the Bundesliga ahead of their midweek clash with Hamburg. It is the 151st time in their history that the Black & Yellows have topped the table – and they will be hoping to still be there when the final whistle sounds on the north coast on Wednesday evening.

"We have to and want to win all our games, whether home or away." That's "the attitude that we take into every match," said Peter Bosz, adding: "We want to win. That applies to Wednesday too." They will be facing Hamburg, where they won 5-2 last season – Aubameyang scored four goals – to record their first away victory over HSV in ten years and bring an end to a poor run of form.

Bosz is expecting "an interesting "game" and to face a HSV side in confident mood – despite successive 2-0 defeats to Leipzig and Hannover. The Dutchman is particularly curious to see what tactical approach the men from Hamburg will take. "Every team we have faced in the Bundesliga has played very defensively. I haven't spoken to the HSV coach, so I don't know what he is planning," joked Bosz with a wink. "But we are prepared for everything."

Club record could be equalled

The fact that four matches into the season his team are yet to concede and are on the verge of equalling the club record "makes me proud," said Bosz. "When you play as offensively as we do, you leave a lot of space at the back. That means you need to do everything well, as a mistake can be dangerous. We found that out in the Champions League when we played against top strikers."

On the whole, though, the new BVB boss is very satisfied with the current level of development at the club. "I have to say that things have progressed very quickly in Dortmund," he declared, although he was quick to add: "We're already doing some things very well, but there is still a long way to go, in the Bundesliga too."

Aubameyang faces favourite opponents

The BVB defence will be put to the test again at the Volksparkstadion, where Hamburg may well opt for similar tactics to the ones adopted by Tottenham and look to strike on the counter once Dortmund have lost the ball.

Should BVB keep another clean sheet, they may well be top of the table for the 152nd time. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will likely be a key figure if they are to do so. The Gabon forward has been involved in 12 goals (eight goals, four assists) in his eight games against HSV, and has now netted more Bundesliga goals against the Red Shorts than any other team.
