The Black & Yellows interviewed by sky after the match spoke either of a "difficult" or an "intense" encounter away to Hamburg. Even though they felt they should have scored more goals in the opening 45 minutes, they all agreed that it was a deserved victory.

Michael Zorc: "It was a very intense match. HSV pressed us very high up the pitch and tried to disrupt our build-up play. You could see that in the first half. We weren't able to play the ball out from the back as easily as we had been able to in our previous games this season. As the match progressed, we managed to carve out good opportunities time and time again. We should have scored one or two goals more in the first period. In the second half, we showed a lot of quality in the final third and got the goals at the right time."

Peter Bosz: "It was not an easy game. HSV applied a lot of pressure. It was difficult in the first half in particular, but even then we should have scored two or three goals. We played too many long balls. All in all, though, it was a very good performance from us and we deserved to win in the end."

Christian Pulisic: "We had to play at speed and did not expect Hamburg to pressure us so much going forward. It took a while but we moved the ball about and then the first goal came. Five matches without conceding – we're doing brilliantly at the moment! We're trying to win every game."

Maximilian Philipp: "It was a difficult match. HSV play with a lot of passion. It was good that we managed to get a goal in the first half, that was a bit of a blow for Hamburg. It was a very open affair for a short while at the start of the second half. There was a lot of back and forth without a clear flow to the game. We're not happy with this passage of play, except for the passion we showed. Once we had scored the second goal, the game was won. We deserved the victory in this one."
