Scorer of the winner in Gladbach, provider of Marcel Schmelzer's late equaliser in Bergamo and scorer of BVB's opening goal tonight – it hasn't taken Marco Reus long to get back to his best following his long injury layoff. The attacking midfielder has now been involved in 100 goals (48 goals, 52 assists) in 128 Bundesliga matches – an impressive haul.

On fire: Andre Schürrle has been involved in a goal in each of his last four league appearances (one goal, three assists). He has only previously managed such a run on one occasion in the Bundesliga – back in his Leverkusen days.

Offensive trio: As they were for the winning goal in Mönchengladbach, the trio of Götze, Schürrle and Reus were all involved in the opener against Augsburg.

Defensive stalwarts: Lukasz Piszczek und Marcel Schmelzer have been regular fixtures in the full-back positions since 2010. But tonight was only the second time in the current Bundesliga campaign the pair have played together – and on the previous occasion it was only for half an hour: on Matchday 3 in Freiburg, Schmelzer was substituted off with an injury on the 31-minute mark.

Midfield maestro: In the first half Julian Weigl won an incredible 79 percent of his challenges and completed 41 of his 43 passes.

Experienced hands: Peter Stöger fielded in the oldest BVB starting XI in almost three years. The average age was 28.0 years – the oldest it has been since a 3-1 defeat in Mönchengladbach in April 2015.

Still unbeaten: Borussia Dortmund extended their unbeaten run under Stöger to nine Bundesliga matches (five wins and four draws). No other BVB coach has ever made such a long unbeaten start to life in the dugout. (br)
