U19s lose second top match, U17 derby ends in goalless draw
Michael Skibbe's charges suffered their second defeat in three matches in the U19 Bundesliga on Wednesday evening, as a battling Gladbach side claimed a 2-1 win that was not undeserved. The goalscorer for Dortmund was Alaa Bakir, who slotted home a penalty to level the scores at 1-1. The Black & Yellows are next in action on Sunday when they host Arminia Bielefeld (kick-off in Brackel at 11:00 CET).
Meanwhile, the Borussia Dortmund U17s and their FC Schalke 04 counterparts played out a goalless derby draw in front of a good 600 spectators in Brackel. The Royal Blues dominated the first half, with the Black & Yellows in the ascendancy after the break. "It was an interesting and fast-paced youth match with a fair result," said BVB coach Sebastian Geppert after the match. (wiwi)
