For the fourth time in a row, a Borussia Dortmund player has been named Bundesliga Player of the Month. By winning the award in April, Malen follows in the footsteps of his teammates Julian Brandt (January and February) and Raphael Guerreiro (March).

Based on the votes from players, fans and experts, Malen was voted "Bundesliga Player of the Month" for April. Malen had already started to shine in March, finding the net and laying on two assists in the 6-1 demolition of Cologne. And the Dutchman picked up where he had left off in April, extending that run five Bundesliga games with at least one goal.

The BVB striker scored six of his total of 14 Bundesliga goals in April, but he wasn't satisfied with just scoring the most goals in the league – he also laid on the most assists in April (5). He also managed to bag his first Bundesliga brace in the match against Frankfurt. That took his tally to the season to seven goals – a new personal best in the Bundesliga.

Malen beat off stiff competition from Jeremie Frimpong (Bayer 04 Leverkusen), Benjamin Pavard (Bayern München), Josha Vagnoman (VfB Stuttgart), Moussa Diaby (Bayer 04 Leverkusen) and Timo Werner (Rasenballsport Leipzig).

The award, which is presented by the German Football League (DFL) in cooperation with EA Sports, therefore is once again coming to Dortmund – for the fourth time this year.
