Borussia Dortmund's women's footballers secured a 6-1 (2-1) victory against Borussia Dröschede. Danelle Tan impressed with a superb hat-trick.

The BVB women have taken another important step in the direction of the Westfalenliga. In the clash with the Borussia from Dröschede, who currently occupy third place in the second tier of the regional league, the Black & Yellows were able to extend their points lead over their rivals from Brechten to 14 points.

BVB coach Thomas Sulewski made seven changes from last Monday's Westfalenpokal match and thus demonstrated his squad's strength in depth. Although the Black & Yellows initially struggled to get into the game, Mia Macarena Bedarf, who came into the starting XI for the injured Merle Greulich, scored in the 14th minute to give Dortmund a 1-0 lead. The BVB women then grew in confidence and started to move the ball around the park with grace. In the 36th minute, Marie Grothe won the ball in midfield, drove forward and fired home from around 20 metres out to make it 2-0. In the fifth minute of first-half stoppage time, a lapse of concentration in the BVB backline gave Dröschede's Sina Schäfer the chance to pull one back and bring the score to 2-1.

After the break, the Black & Yellows once again took control of the game. This was quickly reflected in the scoreline after Danelle Tan's goal in the 52nd minute to make it 3-1. Tan stepped up in the final phase and netted two more goals in the 83rd and 85th minute to complete a flawless hat-trick. Lea Rogge-Herper then got on the end of a pass from substitute Greulich to bring the final score to 6-1 (90).

Sulewski was satisfied with his team's performance: "We deserved to win by that margin. Our goal was to open up a 14-point lead, which we achieved and we're very happy and proud of that."

The Black & Yellows will pick things up on Sunday 14 April, when they host TV Brechten at the Rote Erde stadium (kick-off 15:00 CET). An exciting programme of accompanying events is planned for the match, and well over 1,000 tickets have already been sold. Tickets are available here.
