Borussia Dortmund make it two wins from two friendlies in 2014. On Tuesday, BVB picked up a 2-1 (1-0) victory over VfL Bochum in the "little derby" to win their second game of their training camp in Spain through Jordanov and an own goal from Gyamerak.

In front of a capacity crowd of 3,000 at the Pinatararena, BVB took the lead with less than a minute gone when after a back pass from Gyamerak, the ball bobbled over goalkeeper Luthe’s foot and into the net.

Borussia were still without Hummels and Gündogan, and also had to do without Günter who missed the game with a knock, but had Durm available who returned from a virus. The game was a “test” in every sense of the word, with Aubameyang playing the lone striking role up front and three regular central players each playing a touch deeper: Lewandowski was deployed in the No. 10 position, Mkhitaryan filled the No. 6 role and Bender dropped into central defence.

Against a deep lying and solid Bochum defence, BVB struggled to find a way through in the first half. They dominated possession, but rarely managed to put the second division’s side under threat. Their passing often lacked accuracy which was not surprising after their intensive training in La Manga so far, including a tough 75-minute session earlier on Tuesday. After good work from Mkhitaryan, a Reus goal was correctly ruled off-side, while Aubameyang went close with a shot from nine yards after a cross from Hofmann shortly before the break in another scoring opportunity.

BVB (in a completely new line-up) looked much more determined in the second half. Kehl hit the corner of the post and the crossbar after receiving a fine cut-back pass from Blaszczykowski and Jordanov was quickest to react to slam the rebound home. Blaszczykowski could have added a third for BVB on 62 minutes, but was denied by a great save from Luthe. At the other end, BVB almost conceded an own goal as well when a misplaced back pass caught out Weidenfeller, but the Dortmund goalkeeper reacted quickly to sprint back and clear the ball off the line. Shortly before the final whistle, Kreyer managed to pull one back for Bochum to make it 2-1 (87 mins.).
