Shortly after the final whistle blew on the draw against FC Augsburg Jürgen Klopp and Roman Weidenfeller (who had played in his 300th Bundesliga game for the club) gave their reactions.

Jürgen Klopp: “We wanted to do so much today and had spent the break planning great things for the second half of the season. But today my team just went into themselves at times today. Our opponents played a robust game and we became involved in too many little battles. There were a lot of, shall we say, tactical fouls.  Basically you have to say that we gradually went into our shell. We couldn’t break out from this, not even at the end. To be honest we didn’t create enough. You have to say that Augsburg did well to stop us finding our rhythm. We so wanted to do well and put down a marker, but we haven’t done that. We can play a lot better, that is clear.”

Klopp regarding the injury to Jakub Blaszczykowski: "That is, of course, grave news. We are not yet sure, but at the moment it could be a cruciate ligament tear, but I am still hopeful. Sadly it does point that way and if that does prove to be the case then it is dreadful news for the team and the lad himself. It just seems to be the way this season.”

Roman Weidenfeller: “The game did not turn out the way we had hoped it would. We were too careless, and couldn’t find our natural rhythm. For both goals we allowed ourselves to be outnumbered out wide and that just can’t happen. The team gave everything physically and did their best, but today it wasn’t enough. That is very annoying. The injury to Kuba – should our worst fears be realised- is awful. The team will naturally find that a bitter blow. But that incident cannot excuse our display today.”
