“We are very happy about this win which was very hard fought,” said Jürgen Klopp after the 2-1 win over Braunschweig. On his team’s finishing, the BVB coach said, “When we are confident, we put our chances away. But as we lacked results, we lacked confidence in front of goal.”

How happy are you with the win over Braunschweig?

In my time here at Dortmund, we haven’t had this many dirty games. This was another one. But that was also because we missed so many clear-cut chances. We had a hat full of them. Davari did exceptionally well. In the end we stuck two of our chances away. Braunschweig played remarkably well and defended passionately.

What’s your say on Braunschweig’s goal?

We talked about Brauschweig’s corner kicks and showed the players videos. The ball still slipped through and went in. The equaliser turned the atmosphere in the stadium. And when you’re not at one hundred percent, you have to fight your way back. Dirty wins are one way to achieve that. Let’s move on.

And on the finishing?

Both goals were superbly well-worked. There were other spells where we played outstandingly well and were impossible to defend. Unfortunately, we didn’t make the most of our chances and if you don’t take your chances, you keep the opponents alive, and hand them a chance to come back. But we held our own.
