Borussia Dortmund will be without Marcel Schmelzer for four weeks. The Germany international suffered a torn groin muscle in the Champions League game against FC Zenit St Petersburg on Wednesday.

According to BVB team doctor Markus Braun, Schmelzer is set to be out for up to four weeks, missing the Bundesliga games against Hannover 96, Schalke 04, VfB Stuttgart, VfL Wolfsburg and Bayern Munich as well as the two UEFA Champions League quarter-final ties, but could return for the DFB Cup semi-final against Wolfsburg on 15 April.

Schmelzer said: ”I got tripped in a tackle, and felt pain in both groins.”
