After the 0-0 draw in the derby, both the players and the officials of Borussia Dortmund agreed that was a “very good performance”, but they were still left frustrated that they could not take one of the many chances. “We played really well and were clearly the better team,” said Mats Hummels.  “But unfortunately we failed to find the net.” The post-match reactions.

Hans-Joachim Watzke: “We are of course a bit frustrated because we should have won this game. It reminded me a bit of the derby a few years ago when the game also finished 0-0. At that time Manuel Neuer kept everything out, this time it was Ralf Fährmann. It was really a world-class performance by him. But the positive thing is that we put in a very, very good performance. We created a lot of chances, and the team is also in a great physical shape. I was also amazed by the atmosphere in the stadium.”

Michael Zorc: “We have to live with the result. At the moment we are of course a bit down as we would have – especially after our second-half performance – deserved to win. It was a really good home performance from us, but we failed to find the net. But we can absolutely build on this performance. Overall, it was very good display from us.”

Mats Hummels: “We played really well and were clearly the better side, but unfortunately we failed to find the net. That’s a shame, but it’s better than putting in a poor performance, as we did against Gladbach. What’s important for us is that we finally played again the way we want to play.”

Robert Lewandowski: “I think Schalke can be very happy with a point. We limited them to almost no chances and created a lot ourselves. We actually played exactly the way we wanted. Unfortunately, we only managed a goalless draw.”

Sebastian Kehl: “We are a bit frustrated after a game like this, but we will surely get over it. Overall, we put in a very good performance, were clearly the better team and should have won the game. That’s the positive we have to take out of it, though I would have felt better if we had scored a goal.”

Nuri Sahin: “We were not rewarded for our very good performance. We outplayed Schalke and restricted them to no chances apart from a header from Neustädter and a shot from Boateng. We created some clear-cut chances, and played some great passing football. Unfortunately we didn’t get the three points.”
