The 09 countdown to the final - every day a new chapter of BVB’s DFB Cup history. Here’s the fourth one:  “ Norbert Lehmann: The goal came first, then the Wall came down.”

My prediction: a 1-0 win for BVB (of course) – revenge for the Champions League final against Bayern at Wembley. I will be in attendance in Berlin this year, just like in 1989.

The goals came first, then the Wall came down. We travelled by bus from Dortmund to Berlin, and the (still) East German border guards really caused us a lot of “control” stress which almost took all the fun out of it. 50,000 Schwarzgelbe in Berlin – big party. And on the way home the same border control madness in front of, under and behind the “anti-imperialist protective wall”. You know what my buddy Willi told one of the border guards? “Listen, I hope the wall comes down soon – and crashes on your feet.” Thank God, the man from the eastern zone didn’t listen properly – or didn’t understand – with all that Dortmund slang used…
