Matthias Ginter has arrived at Borussia Dortmund. Two days earlier than planned, the World Cup medal winner began his pre-season preparations on Friday afternoon, and for that reason he will not travel with his new teammates to Altach for the friendly against Chievo Verona on Friday (kick-off 1830 CET).

The first get together with his new teammates took place at the team’s lunch on Friday. “He went through it without a fault,” joked Jürgen Klopp. On the early arrival of the 20-year-old, the Dortmund coach said, in a more serious tone, “He’s a very young lad and has been eager to join up with us for the last 16 days. He was full of anticipation and asked to come early.”

On Sunday Ginter could be wearing the black and yellow shirt for the first time in BVB’s pre-season friendly against Rapperswill. Klopp: “He has already completed five sessions on an individual basis, so he should be in pretty good shape.”

After nine years in black and red at Sportclub Freiburg, Ginter received his black and yellow kit of training and casual wear from BVB kitman Frank Gräfen on Friday. Klopp: “Black and yellow look good on him.”
