At 2.09 pm Borussia Dortmund’s Under23 team went top of the third division after rocking to an early 2-0 lead in the home game against Holstein Kiel on Saturday afternoon. After the final whistle, however, the Black n Yellows only got a 2-2 draw that saw them slip to third in the table with “only” four points.

Borussia Dortmund’s reserve side enjoyed a dream start to the game at Rote Erde stadium in front of almost 5,000 fans. Coach David Wagner went with the same team that had won the first game in Erfurt, and it proved to be the right decision as Solga put the home side in front from the spot (foul on Narey) after three minutes before  Kefkir doubled the advantage five minutes later when he fired the rebound home after Harder had hit the post.

This second goal seemed to have served as a wake-up call for the visitors from northern Germany. In the 17th minute, Alomerovic did well to deny Heider with a foot save, but six minutes later he was beaten when a header back to him fell short and Breitkreutz fired home to make it 2-1. The Dortmund keeper was then lucky to escape with a yellow card when he committed a foul outside the box after rushing out of his penalty area. Gyau could have restored BVB’s two-goal lead shortly before the interval but his fine effort was tipped onto the post.

Kiel found the net again on 52 minutes when Heider headed home from a corner to make it 2-2 which was also the final score.
