BVB’s Family Fun Day attracted some 90,000 people to the Strobeallee. Over 30,000 stayed until the end and saluted the team in the Signal Iduna Park who, in turn showed their appreciation of the support by staying an extra 45 minutes signing countless thousands of autographs. Earlier in the day, the Under23s had enjoyed a fine win in front of a record crowd.

From 1000 to 1900 the Strobeallee was rocking with the day starting with the grand opening of BVB’s FanWorld and ending with the presentation of the 2014-15 squad in the Signal Iduna Park. In between the ‘REWE’ Family Fun Day kept visitors both young and old amused and entertained with all manner of BVB related stalls and events hosted not only by the club but also its sponsors. Not least popular was a tombola with 20,000 individual prizes! REWE had arranged something for everyone.

9,999 fans attended the 5-1 thrashing of Jahn Regensburg at the Rote Erde stadium thus probably setting a world record for an Under23 club match which prompted the team’s coach, David Wagner to say “It was an unbelievable day.”

The first team squad arrived at 1750 having completed two training sessions in Brackel. It had originally been the ide to open just the lower tiers of the North and West stands but as more and more people made their way to the stadium, the lower East and then upper North and West stands were also made available to the public. With Hansi Küpper and Norbert Dickel hosting proceedings 30,000 fans greeted the team and officials. (br)
