The return trip to Great Britain lasted exactly 10 hours. At nine o’clock in the morning, a BAe146 aircraft with the Borussia Dortmund team on board took off from runway “Ruhrgebiet”  with destination Liverpool, and shortly after seven in the evening it returned safely back to Dortmund’s airport in Wickede.

Klopp takes pictures on behalf of Romeo
On board that special flight to Liverpool (and back) was nine-year-old Romeo from Brilon after the cheeky youngster had won the main price at BVB’s Family Fun Day on Saturday. “My grandma bought the raffle ticket,” he said, adding that this Sunday was “the greatest day of my life”. The highlight of the trip for Romeo was the bus ride from the gate to the plane when he was asked by Jürgen Klopp if he had already taken pictures of the players. When he said no, Klopp grabbed the young lad and his camera to take pictures of the team.

Subotic missed out due to a cold
Nothing serious, nothing to worry about. After suffering from a mild cold, Neven Subotic decided to sit out the preseason friendly with Liverpool. “I’m sure I will feel better tomorrow,” he said afterwards.

Legends in Liverpool
On 5 May 1966, they were members of the first German team to win a European Cup – the Cup Winners’ Cup with a 2-1 extra-time victory over FC Liverpool. On Sunday, BVB legends Hoppy Kurrat, Theo Redder, Aki Schmidt, Siggi Held and the captain of the time, Wolfgang Paul, accompanied the team to Liverpool where they linked up with their former opponents, including Ian Callaghan. “He’s still mad at me because I felled him in that game,” joked Redder.
