Jürgen Klopp is as popular a coach as ever. In a similar situation Borussia Dortmund are now in, other clubs would be thinking about sacking their coach or their fans would be calling for his dismissal, at BVB many people are worried that their coach could leave the club.

At the press conference for the Bundesliga game against Hoffenheim, Jürgen Klopp stressed his commitment to BVB. “There is no trap door through which I could disappear to save my reputation. I want to change the situation with everything I have at my disposal.”

Jürgen Klopp about his statement that he is “a better coach now than in 2012”:

If things don’t work according to plan, you have to think them over, as in every aspect of life. If you have 16 or 18 players in top shape, only eleven players are allowed on the pitch and they have to be picked with the opposition in mind. Since pre-season training we’ve been confronted with problems on a scale we’ve never experienced before. Working and dealing with them makes you better, and we will benefit from this experience at some point, ideally in the near future. I’ve never worked as hard as now, and diligence always pays off. You can accuse us of a lot of things, but a lack of willingness to work is not among them.

… on whether there’s a limit on how much he can take:

I don't think about anything else but my work here. There’s is no trap door through which I could disappear. I want to change the situation with everything I have at my disposal. We have the big chance to get through the situation without being separated, and to emerge stronger. Only focus and hard work help you in a crisis.

… on the support of the fans:

I don't need a vote of confidence, it’s the team that needs one now. We are a big team, and everyone is a part of it.
