With the season entering the final straight, BVB had seven games in four weeks in the Bundesliga and Champions League. And Borussia Dortmund were still involved in all competitions. The game at Stuttgart can only be described as an afternoon of madness as BVB managed to come back from 2-0 down to win 3-2.

After going three years without playing for the national team, Kevin Grosskreutz made his comeback for Germany. In the 1-0 win over Chile, the Dortmund man played at right back and put himself in contention for further recognition.

In order to optimize and speed up entry into their ground, especially at night games, Borussia Dortmund implemented a number of improvements, for example increasing the number of entry lanes and turnstiles.

Julia Urban was one of the first benefitting from these improvements. In the home game against Mönchengladbach, the 28-year-old Hamm native became the one millionth supporter to watch a BVB home game in the 2013/14 season. It was the 16th time in a row that Borussia Dortmund reached this mark, with BVB being the only club in Europe to have an average attendance of plus 80,000. The new FanWelt, sitting next to Signal Iduna Park, held its topping out ceremony.

In their 200th game in Europe, BVB missed out on the 100th win as they lost 2-1 against FC Zenit in the second leg of their last-16 Champions League clash. But their progress to the next round was never really in doubt after Sebastian Kehl’s scored a 36th-minute equaliser, his first goal in Europe for BVB as the Russian outfit would have needed a 4-1 win to advance after losing 4-2 in the first leg. “Due to the injuries we have had this season and our finances compared to other clubs, this is a great achievement,” said Hans-Joachim Watzke on the team’s progress in the round of the best eight teams in Europe.

In the Bundesliga, last year’s runners up climbed back into second place courtesy of a 3-0 win at home over Nuremberg (goals from Hummels, Lewandowski, Mkhitaryan), and despite their injury problems, the Black and Yellows picked up 13 of a possible 18 points in March. Kehl scored the only goal in the 1-0 win at Freiburg, an unfortunate 2-1 defeat to Mönchengladbach (12-0 attempts after 30 minutes, 25-7 overall, but only Jojic found the net) was followed by a 3-0 win at Hannover (Hummels, Lewandowski, Reus). The Derby against Schalke ended in a goalless draw despite an action-packed first half, and the trip to Stuttgart turned into a frantic affair. After finding themselves 2-0 down after just 19 minutes, BVB managed to turn the game around, with Marco Reus scoring all three goals. It was the first time since 2 November 2003 that Borussia come from two goals down to win.
