For the last time, Sebastian Kehl packed his luggage and bit farewell to his family. On Saturday, the 34-year-old left for his last training camp of his career: “Last summer I made the decision to quit the game and I’m assuming that it stays that way.”

What are your hopes and goals for the trip to La Manga?

First of all I hope that we will stay healthy. Unfortunately, we have our first injury casualty of the year in Sven Bender. I also hope that we will find good condition to work in La Manga. We have a lot up our sleeves and have to improve in a lot of things.”

Even with Sven Bender missing, a number of players can get integrated into the team again.

The players who had long-term injuries, but also the World Cup players now have a chance to have a full preparation. It will be good for all of us to train with a large group of players again. That will make us better as a team. It will all be about gaining stability.

How much are you looking forward to the last training camp of your career?

It's going to be a tough and intense week which will do me good. That’s why I’m looking forward to the days in La Manga, but once it’s over I will also be looking forward to returning home again.
