This Saturday, all eyes were on the clash between the Westphalian and the Rhine metropoles. This city rivalry took place in the 3rd division between Fortuna Köln and Borussia Dortmund II. This match ended with a draw although the ball hit the post four times.

Due to the tribute paid to the late Fortuna chairman Klaus Ulonska, the match was delayed by a couple of minutes – and began to gather pace only at a late stage. Fortuna were dominating the game and they barely let their opponent, deprived of Solga and Kefkir due to suspensions, develop their combination play. However, the Black and Yellows managed to improve their game as the match went on. Jordanov's remarkable free kick, which Fortuna goalkeeper Poggenborg deflected onto and over the bar, gave an early and strong signal at the 29th minute of the match. Five minutes later, Nyarko's strong header missed the target by a hair's breadth after receiving a cross shot by right defender Hornschuh.

The pace began to speed up briefly after an hour. At first, Pazurek hit the post with a free kick (67th minute) and Harder's attempt failed in the same manner (68th minute). Amini could have secured the victory for his team six minutes before the final whistle, but Fortuna's goalkeeper managed to save the spinning ball with his fingertips and deflected it one more time over the bar. The opposing team also had some reasons to be disappointed: Dahmani's shot ended on the bar of the opposing goal at the last minute of the game.

Borussia Dortmund II drop to second-last place on the table as Mainz beat Dresden 1-0. Großaspach got a 1-1 tie against Münster and keep therefore 4 points ahead of BVB. (br)
