After a year away, the BVB Evonik Football Academy team was able to line up in the beautiful city of Vienna once again. An arena, plenty of pitches and ambitious young footballers – what more do you need to make a football course special? Perhaps the colours the kids took the pitch in were the decisive factor at the Westside Soccer Arena.

Kitted out in yellow tops, black shorts and yellow socks, the young footballers gave it their all. After welcoming the children and parents, the BVB coaches split the kids into age groups and trained different key areas, utilising various training aids, such as coordination hoops and cones. When the tournament was held on the final day of the course, BVB coach Benjamin Galant was pleasantly surprised. One young star from the 2012 group left the opposing goalkeeper looking on in bemusement after he scored every single one of his shots! Although it is not normally part of the final tournament, coach Galant thought it would not be right to let the young striker's outstanding achievement go unrewarded and crowned him the tournament's top scorer.

Sven Kahlert, the head coach for the course, who was responsible not only for organising the course schedule, but also for the wellbeing of all those involved, summed up the event well: "Ambitious young footballers, a modern arena and plenty of Viennese charm – the perfect mix for a successful football course!"

The BVB Evonik Football Academy team will take to the pitch across Austria in 2020. All the key dates and other information can be found here.
