BVB on Saturday at Augsburg: "We really need to be on guard..."
Borussia Dortmund kick off the Bundesliga season on Saturday at FC Augsburg, last year´s seventh-best team in the second half of the season. "It´s going to be a tough task for us," said Jürgen Klopp. "They are a well-oiled team and disciplined in their pressing of the ball. We really need to be on guard..."
BVB, of course, still go into the match as favourites. After all, their 2.75 goals per game average against Augsburg is the highest against any Bundesliga side, and they also have never lost against them. "We feel we are well-prepared after this pre-season," said the BVB coach, even though he might not only be without Henrikh Mkhitaryan (match fitness), but also Ilkay Gündogan, another potential No. 10.
After complaining of neck pain on Wednesday, the Germany international sat out training on Thursday with a back problem. "Let´s see how he will do in final training," said Klopp who toyed with various attacking formations in training. "I liked what I saw. We have options and are able to shift positions."
