Adductor problems might have kept Gonzalo Castro in the changing rooms at half-time against Leverkusen, but he still fielded questions from journalists after the match.

Gonzo, you were substituted off due to injury. So the first question is obviously: how are you?
I felt something in my adductors while I was still out on the pitch. That's why we didn't want to take any risks at half-time. We will now have to see how it develops over the course of the coming days.

What are the reasons behind the defeat?
We were not able to play our game. Leverkusen pressed us very well and we made the wrong decisions in some situations. We did have the chances to equalise the game at 1-1, then we would have been back in the game. Unfortunately that didn't happen today.

"We need to do better in future"

Did Leverkusen play too hard today?
That's part of it. We learn lessons from such matches and improve as a result.

Are you annoyed that you couldn't take advantage of Bayern's 1-1 draw?
Of course that would have been a big point today. But there are still so many games left this season.

You were pretty much man-marked today. It wasn't an easy match for you personally, was it?
It was difficult for everyone. But we also made too many mistakes that we wouldn't usually make. Especially in build-up play. But Leverkusen were excellently set up too. We need to learn from this so that we do things better in the future.

"Away from home we need to go up a notch"

Can you draw any parallels to the match in Leipzig?
Absolutely. Leipzig and Leverkusen have a very similar system. Both defend very aggressively. It is always very difficult when you're facing such teams because they never give you a moment's rest. But that's football.

How are BVB doing after the last five weeks?
Particularly away from home we need to go up a notch. We have now lost without scoring on two occasions. That needs to change. We need to be more consistent with our chances.
