Signal Iduna Park was full of atmosphere a quarter of hour before kick-off as Hans-Joachim Watzke and Michael Zorc bid a belated farewell to former Black and Yellow Jakub Blaszczykowski, who completed a switch to VfL Wolfsburg last summer.

Chants of "Kuba, Kuba" rang out around Signal Iduna Park, leaving the Poland international visibly moved.

"Kuba is an outstanding professional, whom we have come to appreciate not only as a footballer but as a person too. We will always keep a keen eye on his progress," Sporting Director Michael Zorc stressed repeatedly. Jakub Blaszczykowski made 197 Bundesliga appearances for BVB between 2007 and 2015, scoring 27 goals, as well as representing the club 33 times at European level (three goals).

Hans-Joachim Watzke added: "He is a true Black and Yellow and a really good guy with whom we will always have a strong connection. Kuba knows that he will always be very welcome among his Dortmund family!" (br)
