With 31 goals this season, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has not only picked up the top-scorer canon for the first time in the Bundesliga, but the Gabonese has also ended the 51 year old club record set by Lothar Emmerich. Auba was overjoyed as he stood in the Mixed-Zone with the canon in his hands after the win, while patiently answering questions. He said of the decisive penalty: "I took on the responsibility and scored. It's an incredible feeling."

Auba, how are you feeling after this nerve-shredding match?
"I feel really good. We have made third place and have qualified for the Champions League directly: that was our target. On top of that, I have won this trophy (proudly presents top-scorer canon, Ed's note). It was all very emotional today. It was a wonderful day."

You didn't take the first penalty, but then you did take the second. Why?
"It was very important that we scored the first one. I was thinking more about my team at that point than my own goal-tally for the season, and let Marco do the honours because he is a specialist. When we got the second, he said to me unequivocally: 'You're taking this one, whether you want to or not!'. I took on the responsibility and scored. It's an incredible feeling."

How did you feel before the last penalty? You had of course missed your last three…
"It was fine really. I was only focussed on scoring. I certainly wanted to win the top-scorer canon and was relatively certain I would get it if I scored the penalty. As such, I was very concentrated."

How much does it mean to you to have beaten Robert Lewandowski in this duel?
"It's a fantastic feeling, because for me, Lewy is without doubt the best player in the world. To beat him is simply crazy! Yeah, I certainly feel really, really good. He scores goals every week. It's a shame for him, but that's life (grins)."

"We've got to do it this time"

Have you won your bet with Thomas Tuchel?
"Of course! It was 27 goals last year but I only got 25 and had to give him a present. I still owe him that, incidentally. This year he gave me a series of targets: score in eight games, get a brace in five games, and a hat-trick in three. That adds up to 27 goals. And so I won this time."

What are you expecting in the final next week?
"We stand a good chance. We have to play our own game, then we can win. This is my fourth final, and we've got to do it this time." (djg)
