Mikel Merino and Joo-Ho Park have also travelled to Lisbon, but may not take to the field when Borussia Dortmund play against Sporting on Tuesday (20.45 CET). They are not on the list of those entitled to play. That is, however, no oversight on the part of the club, rather, the fault of the regulations, since only 15 players can be named without limitations of any kind.

A maximum of 25 names may be entered onto the so-called "A-List", which must be submitted to UEFA at the beginning of September. Two goalkeepers and eight "local players" who were trained at the club or by the national association to which the club belongs (the DFB here then) must be included as part of that group of 25.

Players trained by the club...
...are players who, irrespective of their nationality or current age, were registered for three full seasons at their current club while they were between 15 and 21 years of age.

Players trained by the association...
...are players who, irrespective of their nationality or current age, were registered for three full seasons at one or more clubs belonging to the same association while they were between 15 and 21 years of age.

Therefore, a total of 15 players who are not subject to these regulations can be nominated.

There is also the "B-List" for developing youth players (born on or after 1. January 1994) who were entitled to play for the club concerned for two consecutive years between their 15th birthday and the time of registration at UEFA. Every club can enter an unlimited number of players onto the "B-List". (br)
