Thomas Delaney was one of the driving forces behind the 4-1 victory over Rasenballsport Leipzig, with his individual effort from a tight angle in the 20th minute that tested keeper Gulacsi for the first time acting as a catalyst for the comeback.

Mo Dahoud equalised almost immediately afterwards and the Dane was later involved in the build-up to the third goal too, meeting a Pulisic corner with a powerful header that was brilliantly saved by the Leipzig shot-stopper. But Axel Witsel was the quickest to the rebound and scored to put the win within reach.

"After we made it 1-1, it was really fun to play in this stadium. The first minute was not fun," explained Delaney in reference to the early goal scored by Leipzig. "But the game shows that we have a good mentality. Despite the difficult start, we came back and delivered a good performance." He continued: "It was important to make a good start to the season. For the fans too. We need the 80,000 fans behind us." (br)
