Borussia Dortmund were the more dangerous team and had more shots (10-6) in what was a dominant display against Schalke. Thomas Delaney scored the quickest derby goal since 1999, with Jadon Sancho netting from BVB's first shot of the second half. The Royal Blues were more aggressive after the restart and committed three times as many fouls (9-3). BVB had 54 percent possession and an 88 percent pass completion rate.

Winning run: Borussia Dortmund have won nine of their past 10 Bundesliga matches and only need to pick up one more point before the Christmas break to be crowned winter champions.

Impressive start: BVB have 11 wins and 36 points from their opening 14 matches. Only in the 2010/11 title-winning season did they have a bigger haul at this stage (12 wins and 37 points).

Away run: Today was the fifth consecutive away win for the Black & Yellows. Only once in the club's history have they put together a longer winning run on the road (eight years ago under Jürgen Klopp).

Off the mark: Thomas Delaney scored his first Bundesliga goal for Dortmund. Five of his eight goals in the German top flight have been headers. He is the 17th player to find the net for the Black & Yellows in all competitions this term.

Early goal: The last time a goal was scored so early in a derby between Schalke and Dortmund was on 5 May 1999, when Alfred Nijhuis put BVB ahead in the third minute (final score 1-1).

Reus the provider: Marco Reus' cross to set up the opening goal for Delaney was his 17th scorer point of the season. Only Sébastien Haller of Eintracht Frankfurt has more (18).

Set-pieces: Borussia Dortmund have now scored eight goals from set-pieces. Only Mönchengladbach have more (nine).
