Special situation at the summit

The scenario is clear: Bayern Munich will go into their home game against Eintracht Frankfurt with a two-point lead and a superior goal difference. Borussia Dortmund, meanwhile, will need all three points away to Borussia Mönchengladbach to keep their title hopes alive. "Our focus will have to be top," declared head coach Lucien Favre, while sporting director Michael Zorc added: "It's a special situation. All four teams still have something to play for."

Favre, who is preparing his squad for every possible scenario, is well aware of the threat posed by Gladbach. "We know all about the quality of Gladbach. They're strong on counter-attacks," he explained, before quickly adding: "But they need to win too!" That is, however, something that the Foals have struggled to do against BVB recently: Borussia Dortmund have won each of the previous seven meetings between the clubs – including three fixtures at Borussia-Park.  

Bürki return expected, Reus back

There are currently doubts surrounding the availability of Abdou Diallo for Saturday. "He hasn't trained all week, we'll see on Friday if he's ready," said Favre. However, he is likely to have shot-stopper Roman Bürki, who had to pull out of Thursday's training session, at his disposal. "Roman should be okay," said the Swiss tactician, who will also be boosted by the return of captain Marco Reus to face his former club following a two-match suspension.

There is certainly no lack of motivation in the Dortmund camp, according to Michal Zorc: "We're all hugely looking forward to the match and we're also a little bit proud that we're still in the title race right at the end." On Saturday afternoon, the new champions of Germany will finally be revealed.
