Eleven Borussia Dortmund players have reached the knockout stages of the European Championships with their national teams. Mats Hummels and Emre Can helped Germany into the last 16 on Wednesday evening, while Raphael Guerreiro did so with Portugal. That means that all the BVB players at the tournament are still involved.

The visitors from Hungary took a 1-0 lead through Bundesliga player Adam Szalai (1. FSV Mainz 05) in the 11th minute. BVB central defender Mats Hummels, who played the full 90 minutes, then headed against the crossbar from a corner 10 minutes later. But for the remainder of the opening half, chances were few and far between for Joachim Löw's side.

Every German took a deep breath on the 66-minute mark as Hummels set up Kai Havertz for the equaliser. But the Hungarians re-established their advantage directly after kick-off and with their very next attack. Leon Goretzka then restored parity at 2-2 with minutes remaining to ensure Germany would progress to the Round of 16. Their opponents in that round will be England at Wembley Stadium in London on Tuesday evening (18:00 CET).

In the other game in Group F, the Portuguese national team battled to a 2-2 draw with France that keeps Raphael Guerreiro's involvement in the tournament going.
