Paco Alcácer has been called up for the Spain squad for the first time in two and half years, while Jadon Sancho could make his senior debut for England.

The shooting star of the first few weeks of the season initially received a call-up from the England U21 squad – itself a "promotion" after Sancho had recently been moved up from the U19 squad to the U20s. But while BVB sporting director Michael Zorc was speaking at the matchday press conference – "If he is nominated for the U21s as an 18-year-old, that's already something" – Sancho received a text message from senior coach Gareth Southgate inviting him to the squad for the October international break.

In other good news, Paco Alcácer has earned a recall to the Spain squad for the first time in two and a half years. Luis Enrique contacted the striker for the upcoming fixtures after seeing him net four goals in three games for BVB. (br)
