"I've rarely seen the boys so focused," said Peter Frommeyer, the head coach of the U19s at BSV Fortuna 1958 and the man who trains the A youth team at the club based in Dortmund's Kreuzviertel, not far from the Rote Erde. He's not taking training today, though, and there's a special reason for that: the BVB U23 duo of Marco Rente and Lars Bünning are in attendance to take complete charge of the session.

Starting this season, Borussia Dortmund have been on the lookout for ball boys and girls from the Dortmund area. Their reward is a training session run by two players from the BVB Regionalliga team. At BSV in Kreuzviertel, the excitement was sky-high with the players highly motivated as they stood in front of Rente and Bünning, starring at the two defenders. Inevitably, the question was raised: "Are you real footballers?"

The training session consisted of all the classics: warming up, passing drills, shooting and, finally, a match - only with some special guests in attendance. When it came to the shooting drills, the two defenders from the BVB U23s came up with a special idea of their own. There was great excitement among the young players, who threw themselves into it and excelled with some good shots on goal.

The crowning glory: on the Sunday that followed, Frommeyer's charges claimed a 3-2 victory over promotion rivals TuS Eichlinghofen. Safe to say, then, that Rente and Bünning did a good job.
