Borussia Dortmund. That is intensive, ambitious football. And a passionate family that by now just alone in Germany is made up of ten million fans. The tendency: moving upwards! The Black Yellow home jersey will also be a visual expression of what the club is all about in season 2016/2017. BVB and PUMA have officially presented it today. And by the way, this was not just aimed at the general public...

This moment is also a special moment for experienced professionals year in year out. Today, at exactly 16:45 hrs we laid out lots of little boxes of presents with the new jerseys in the team dressing room at the BVB training ground in the Adi-Preißler-Allee. One box for every player. Training was still going on, but just a few minutes later one sweaty Borussia player followed another into the room and they were very excited when they unpacked their present that was lying there in front of their lockers. There was a tiny hint of Christmas there in the middle of May in the stuffy dressing room. And there was also a hint of anticipation towards a season where Borussia Dortmund really wants to go for it.

German international Marco Reus liked what he had already seen as a player who is under contract with PUMA several weeks before most of his team mates could get a glimpse: "I think it's really great what they have come up with for next year. I really like the stripe design. I have already spoken to some of the lads - and I must say that they are all very satisfied with the jersey. We're already looking forward to wearing it."

On Saturday, in the last game of the Bundesliga season and in the middle of the BVB anniversary week, that time will come against 1. FC Köln. That is when Reus and his colleagues will want to break the 80 point barrier in the block-stripe design and with the classic "DORTMUND" lettering on the back of the jersey. Of course Head Coach Thomas Tuchel's team want to also play the DFB Cup final in the Berlin Olympic Stadium on the 21.May in their new outfit - and bring the Cup home. It would be the icing on the cake for what has already been an excellent season.

Talking about timings: the Borussia Dortmund FanWelt in the Signal Iduna Park will open their doors on the night of Friday to Saturday at 23:00 hrs for late night shopping for the jersey (the jersey does not go on sale until 00:00 hrs). As of the 14.May the new home jersey will then be available in all BVB fan shops or online via www.bvb.de/shop for the suggested retail price of 79.95 Euros. We didn't put the price up - just as promised!
