A short trip after the end of the season in May, and some pre-season training in July: the Borussia Dortmund senior squad will travel to the USA two times. Represented by BVB ambassador Patrick Owomoyela, the Black and Yellows' renewed participation in the International Champions Cup (ICC) was made known in Miami on Thursday.

BVB will play three games against top European clubs in various US metropoles as part of the tournament this year: on 20 July in the Soldier Field in Chicago against Manchester City (kick-off: 20:05 local time); on 22 July in the Bank of America stadium in Charlotte against Liverpool FC (16:05 local time); and on 25 July in the Heinz Field stadium in Pittsburgh against Benfica Lisbon (20:05 local time).

The invitation to participate in the ICC once again is, according to BVB Chief Executive Officer Hans Joachim Watzke, "a distinction that we are really happy about. Becoming ever more closely involved in this tournament as an important player within it alongside the best known and most successful football clubs in the world underlines what high regard Borussia Dortmund is held in."

The club has previously undertaken part of its pre-season training in Asia these last few years but is "now looking forward to travelling to the USA  with the senior squad for the first time. Christian Pulisic, the USA footballer of the year, will be the centre of attention as we hope to win new fans for Borussia Dortmund thanks to the friendly and approachable manner of all those representing the club", explained BVB executive director Carsten Cramer.

The team will take a short trip to Los Angeles shortly after the end of the current Bundesliga season on 20 May. After a training session open to the public on the University of California (UCLA) campus, the eight-time German champions' current team will play against the newly founded Los Angeles FC on 22 May. The inaugural match at the Bank of California Stadium will kick-off at 19:00 local time (4:00 CEST).

Quotas of tickets for travelling BVB fans will be made available for both the friendly match against LAFC and the games as part of the ICC.
