Friday night (kick-off 20:30 CET) will be the 88th Bundesliga meeting between the tradition-steeped duo of Borussia Dortmund and 1. FC Cologne. We've compiled all the info you need to know on this regional rivalry in the usual compact format.

The scenario: Fourth-placed BVB are on a six-game unbeaten streak and a three-match winning run against 13th-placed Cologne. The last time the Billy Goats won in Dortmund was almost 29 years ago, on 13 April 1991, with Maurice Banach bagging a brace in a 2-1 victory. Cologne are on their best Bundesliga run in 19 years, having won four consecutive fixtures since Matchday 15.

Home/away: Borussia Dortmund are currently unbeaten in their last nine Bundesliga home games and are the only club yet to lose in front of their own supporters this season. The Black & Yellows have scored at least one goal in each of their last 33 fixtures at Signal Iduna Park. Cologne have only picked up one victory in their last seven Bundesliga away games – a 4-2 triumph in Frankfurt on 18 December 2019.

Personnel matters: Head coach Lucien Favre will issue an update on the personnel situation at the pre-match press conference at 13:15 CET on Wednesday (live on BVB TV).

Head-to-head record: Borussia Dortmund are unbeaten in their last 19 home games against 1. FC Cologne (15 wins, four draws) – their longest such run against any individual opponent ever. The Billy Goats have a higher winning percentage away to Bayern (20%) than they do away to BVB (14%, 6/43 matches).

Statistics: Only Leipzig have suffered fewer defeats than Dortmund (three). Matches involving BVB have been the highest-scoring in the division: 73 goals in total, an average of four per game! Only two clubs have scored more goals than Borussia's 46, although the number of goals conceded (27) is significantly more than at the same stage last season (18). That said, no team has kept more clean sheets than Dortmund (six in total). The Black & Yellows have the fewest yellow cards in the Bundesliga (17). Cologne have won their past four Bundesliga matches. The last time they were on such a long winning run was under Ewald Lienen over 19 years ago. Their tally of 22 goals is well below the league average (29). They have 45 bookings – the second-most in the division behind Düsseldorf (48).

Biggest home win: BVB claimed a 6-1 victory at Stadion Rode Erde on 15 October 1966 thanks to goals from Lothar Emmerich (three), Reinhold Wosab (two) and Siegfried Held.

Attendance: Signal Iduna Park is sold out with 81,365 spectators set to attend. The visitors will be bringing 7,500 fans. Consequently, the ticket offices will remain closed.

Referee: The DFB have not yet announced the appointed official.
