Eight-time German Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund have signed 19-year-old Julian Weigl from second division side TSV 1860 Munich ahead of the 2015/16 season. The 1.86-metre-tall U20 international, who is currently away with the Germany squad at the World Cup in New Zealand, has signed a contract with BVB until 30 June 2019.

"Julian Weigl is a future prospect for central midfield who we really believe has the potential to develop," said Borussia Dortmund's Sporting Director Michael Zorc.

Weigl made 38 second division appearances for 1860 Munich. The two parties have agreed not to disclose the terms of the transfer.

He is BVB's second signing of the close season after 25-year-old fellow midfielder Gonzalo Castro joined the club.
