Goalkeeper Marcel Lotka joins Borussia Dortmund's U23s for the new season. The 20-year-old is joining us on a free transfer from Hertha BSC and has signed a contract until 2024.

Marcel Lotka was born in Duisburg and began his footballing career in the youth performance centres of MSV Duisburg, Schalke 04, RW Essen and Bayer Leverkusen. In the summer of 2020, Loktka, who has dual German and Polish nationality, left North Rhine-Westphalia and joined the second team of Hertha BSC. This season, Lotka has been in goal for the team from the capital in eight Regionalliga games and has recently been in the matchday squad of the first team on four occasions. Last weekend, Lotka made his debut in Germany's top tier. Marcel Lotka has also been part of Poland's international setup since the U16s and made his debut for the Poland U21s in September.

"Marcel will complete our team of goalkeepers for the coming season. He is a promising shot-stopper and has been able to demonstrate his potential in the Regionalliga and, most recently, even in the Bundesliga. We're very pleased," said U23s team manager Ingo Preuss.
